Obtaining Documents from Iran

Obtaining Documents from Iran helps people living in the UK or elsewhere obtain an identified document or official copy from an Iranian authority. If you cannot attend in person, we can assess whether an authorised representative can request the document for you and agree the steps needed in Iran.

Examples of documents you may need

You may need a copy of a judgment or a document from your own Iranian court file, company registration records, or a property registration document. Tell us which document you need, who issued it if known and why you need it. Whether it can be obtained depends on the record, your entitlement and the authority’s procedure.

A simple example

You live in England and your solicitor needs a copy of an Iranian court judgment relating to your case. We first check the case details and whether you can authorise us to request the copy. If the route is available and the instruction is accepted, we agree the request and follow-up work in Iran. Translation or certification may need to be arranged separately. This is an illustrative example.

What we do

We identify the relevant authority and the information needed for the request, check the required permission or power of attorney, and agree whether we can submit and follow up the request. We report the result and any missing information. We do not promise that every record is available or that a particular deadline can be met.

You must be entitled to request the record

Some records can be requested publicly; others are restricted to the person concerned, a party to the case or an authorised representative. This service does not provide unrestricted access to another person’s private records. We assess the lawful route before accepting retrieval work.

Getting a document is different from explaining it

This service concerns obtaining the document. If you already have it and need to understand its legal meaning, use our Iranian legal document analysis service. Advice on powers of attorney may help establish the authority needed to act. A wider inheritance matter may require estate support in Iran.

What to tell us first

Start with the document’s name or a simple description, the issuing authority if known, your connection to the record, the intended recipient and any deadline. Do not send identity documents or confidential case papers in the first enquiry. After an initial suitability check, we agree scope, fees and third-party costs in writing. Translation, authentication and legal advice are included only if specified.
